Does Innovation Drive Your Small Business?

At today's Small Business Innovation webinar, hosted by DNB Events (Dunn & Bradstreet) and the Small Business Administration (SBA), innovation was analyzed as a driving point for the Small Business.  Innovation often means changing the way you do things which is typically encountered with trepidation for stable business, but the longevity of your organization may depend on it.

Innovation was emphasized as a dimension of success for Small Businesses.  Stable businesses may have well deserved comfort but the point highlighted is there's plenty of competitors looking to take away your market share.  Even if there isn't much competition at current, it's inevitable someone will discover a way to do what you do either more efficiently or more cost effectively.  If you're not innovating, someone else is.  Count on it.

The same can be said for your small business processes.  Web-Kong doesn't necessarily recommend upgrading to products the day they hit the market, but your Small Business should be considering the benefits of current technology offerings.  For instance, innovation can occur in many forms- it can occur internally within your business processes.  As an example, moving to Hosted Services can offer your Small Business the opportunity to focus more on your offerings rather than the underlying mechanism of collaobation.  Many opportunities exist to innovate how your Small Business operates through its technology.  Don't neglect them- because your competition won't!
