NY, NJ, CA Ranked Worst Biz Climates by Index

While most of our blogging is focused on technology we at Web-Kong are very conscious how our Small Business clientele is affected by limited capital and budgetary concerns.  In fact this awareness precludes our choices in reseller offerings. We base our choices on affordable price points that supply meaningful and value conscious products.

But we cannot ignore the implications of taxes.  Some states suffer from fluctuation tax code, often implemented by politically motivated government representatives.  Some good, some bad, but the end result is the decisions you make in operating your Small Business are sometimes less focused on operational goals and get influenced by profit reductions from tax implications.

The State Business Tax Climate Index, a publication by The Tax Foundation, recently ranked NY, NJ, and CA as the three worst tax climates for businesss.  Web-Kong's clients are centered around the NY/NJ Metro Area and our recently opened CA branch (707-WEB-KONG).  Not only are we affected- we understand it affects your decisions too.

"Lawmakers do, however, have direct control over how friendly their tax systems are to business. Furthermore, unlike changes to a state’s health care, transportation or education system, which can take decades to implement, changes to the tax code bring almost instantaneous benefits to a state’s business climate.

"The ideal tax system, whether at the local, state or federal level, is simple, transparent, stable, neutral to business activity, and pro-growth.  In such an ideal system, individuals and businesses would spend a minimum amount of resources to comply with the tax system, understand the true cost of the tax system, base their economic decisions solely on the merits of the transactions, without regard to tax implications, and not have the tax system impede their growth and prosperity."

We encourage all Small Business to maintain awareness of government policies.  Yes, this itself detracts from singular focus on your business but keeping your local and state government as transparent as possible is a responsibility that cannot be outsourced or delegated.  You alone are responsible for your organization.  And with the inevitabilities of globalization tax code changes are a certainty.
